Deer DEER
More people are raising both exotic and domestic deer. These intelligent creatures can be very social and are often tamed by their owners. As with any “wild type” pet be sure to consult with the local and state authorities before making your purchase.
FEEDING
Nutrition is very important in any animals well being. All too often health problems can be minimized or eliminated just by the proper diet. The practice of feeding “whatever is handy” has been detrimental to more than one animal’s health. Deer are no exception. A good balanced diet (like Brisky Pet Products Deer Diet) is essential for deer health. Be careful to limit treats or other foods to no more than 10% of your deer’s diet.
HEALTH
Deer in general are usually healthy. Be sure to have the services of a veterinarian handy so if problems arise they can be dealt with quickly.
OTHER CONCERNS
Deer are usually very social creatures. They will enjoy the company of other calm pets. Caution should be taken with dogs and other rambunctious pets. Deer spook easily and will tend to flee, possible injuring themselves. Deer can jump very high so their enclosure must take this into consideration. We have never heard of anyone potty training a deer (if you have, please let us know).
